What is adrenal fatigue?
The adrenal glands are responsible for several functions of the body.
- Our fight or flight response (stress response)
- Raise our blood sugar and blood pressure when needed
- Produce androgens like testosterone and DHEA
- Help control our immune system
- Wake us up in the morning
Adrenal fatigue is when this normal function is depleted. The gland begins to decrease its response to what is needed, and one feels depleted.
Some conditions associated with adrenal fatigue are asthma, allergies, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, weak muscles, insomnia, low immune system, auto-immune conditions, dizziness, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, hypothyroidism, dehydration, vitiligo.

How can I treat it naturopathically?
Before a treatment plan can be put in place, we first have to determine the underlying cause(s).
The body is wise and trying to convey to you, using the language of “symptoms”, that something you are doing is not agreeing with it. Dr. Wells will help figure out what your body is saying and correct the problems.
Adrenal fatigue is one likely cause of fatigue, yet there are many other causes to be ruled out. Blood work or other specialty testing may be needed. Then treatment can begin. Healing the adrenals involves giving them a rest, feeding them what they need to recover, and adding in some stress reducing techniques. Each person will receive a specific treatment plan that meets their needs.
For severe fatigue, Dr. Wells may prescribe specific IV therapy to boost the adrenal’s nutrients. When the body is full of the nutrients that the adrenal gland uses, the healing happens faster.
How long before I feel better?
Every patient is unique and healing happens faster for some than others. Treatment protocols usually last from 3 – 6 months to heal the underlying cause. Most notice improvements within a week.
What’s involved in natural treatment?
Natural treatments such as herbs, vitamins, minerals, IV nutrients or acupuncture may be needed. Dr. Wendy Wells treats the person, not the disease. Everyone labeled with a disease has their own unique symptom picture and will be treated individually from a holistic vantage point. Some lifestyle changes may also be recommended.
