Welcome to Wellsource
Whether seen in-person or online, a naturopathic doctor offers a combination of modern medical treatments with those based in natural, traditional approaches. Doctors who practice naturopathic medicine believe in the healing power of the natural world, using it to support the patient’s own innate ability to heal. In essence, naturopathic medicine adheres to six core principles:
- Do no harm. This means doctors prefer treatments that are minimally invasive and have as few side effects as possible.
- Nature provides healing. Not only is the body capable of healing itself, but the natural world also provides numerous ways to support that process.
- Treat the causes, not just the symptoms. Naturopathic medicine is focused on uncovering the root cause of illnesses and treating them instead of only alleviating symptoms.
- Doctors should teach patients to be healthy. The emphasis in naturopathy is on giving patients the knowledge they need to care for themselves, not simply treating their illnesses.
- Understand the whole patient. This form of medicine takes into account everything that can lead to illness, including environmental, genetic and mental factors.
- Prevention is critical. Ultimately, naturopathic medicine is concerned with keeping people healthy for as long as possible through knowledge and better lifestyle choices.

What is the difference between naturopathic and holistic medicine?
Although both disciplines focus on treating patients from a body-mind-spirit perspective, an online doctor of naturopathic medicine goes a step further in relying mainly on natural treatments such as hydrotherapy, nutritional and herbal remedies.

What do I need to know before seeing a naturopathic doctor?
Before your first naturopathic doctor telemedicine appointment, you should be ready to share as much information about your current health challenges and medical history as possible. This includes any prescriptions you may be taking as well as any test results you have access to at the present time.
